Oscars Out of School Club – Caerleon
From 4 to 12 Years Old
Our out of school clubs are known as OSCARS and they are registered to provide out of school care for children aged 4 (reception) to 12 years.
It is our mission to provide a high quality, safe and caring environment for your children outside of school hours. Our qualified, experienced staff work closely with the children to provide games, activities and resources that they want to engage with. The children have a big input in the activities that are set with the staff maintaining safe parameters at all times.
Our Clubs
Over our 4 ‘Out of School Club’ sites, we care for children attending various schools in Newport and Caerleon, although our holiday clubs are attended by children from many other schools.
OSCARS out of school club Caerleon offers breakfast club for Charles Williams Primary and Lodge Hill Primary school. Breakfast club is from 8am, or 7.30am is also available as an option. For after school care OSCARS is based in Lodge Hill Primary until 6pm and in Charles Williams Primary until 5.45pm.
Holiday club is based in the nursery setting in their own large rooms.
We have plenty of indoor space and access to large outside play areas.
Care
OSCARS activities include art and craft, team games, board games, table football, outdoor play, ball games, construction resources, age appropriate toys, books and much more. There is also a quiet area for relaxing or for doing homework.
Meals and refreshments are provided with food that is freshly prepared and nutritionally balanced to meet the needs of the children.
We are registered with CIW and inspections are held without notice and reports made available to parents. The staff work with a ratio of 1:8 which is adhered to at all times.
Outdoor Activities
As well as our usual activities and resources holiday club have in the past enjoyed outings to various places such as Newport Wetlands, Cinema, Tredegar House, Roman Museum etc. The holiday club is child led and we plan activities based on the likes and preferences of the children attending.

Breakfast Club
Breakfast club is available from 8am until the start of school. An earlier start of 7.30am is available as an option, subject to availability and at an extra cost.
Children are given a choice of breakfast to give them a good start to their day. We offer wholemeal toast, cereals and fruit, with plenty to drink. The children are able to play and interact with their peers before leaving for school. Children attending the breakfast clubs are then taken to school with our staff. Infant school children are taken to the classroom door, junior school children, with the parents permission are taken to the school yard.
The children are taken to school in our nursery vehicles. These are fully insured with up to date MOTs, age appropriate booster seats and individually adaptable seat belts.
You only pay for breakfast club during term time only. There is no charge during the school holidays. If you require holiday care then this is billed separately.

Care After School
Afterschool club children are collected from their classroom and taken to the school hall where they remain on the school site until the end of the session. The children are served a substantial snack on arrival at the club and then they are free to choose the activity they wish to play with or go outside to play. Staff encourage free choice and the children are supervised at all times.
After school is from the end of the school day until 6pm at Lodge Hill Primary and 5.45pm at Charles Williams Primary.
You only pay for after school club during term time only. There is no charge during the school holidays. If you require holiday care then this is billed separately.

Holiday Club
Holiday Club is open during all school holidays and inset days. If the school is closed for any other reason e.g. snow days, the holiday club will be open should you need. We welcome children from any school to our holiday club as long as they have started reception class. If you have set days in our after school club you are under no obligation to book holiday club sessions and you can book just what you require.
We offer morning and all day sessions starting from 7.30am until 6pm (7.30am with prior arrangement). In holiday club the children will be given a breakfast, morning snack, a two course hot lunch, afternoon snack and a light tea. If we are heading out for the day then we will provide a picnic lunch and hot tea when we return to the nursery.
