Kites Nursery is the longest running nursery in Gwent as it was the first private day nursery when it was established in 1986. This year we are proud to be celebrating 40 years of childcare.

We have two nurseries and four out of school clubs – two of which are based in local schools, offering a full childcare service for children aged from birth to 12 years.

The nurseries are extensively renovated and refurbished with an ongoing maintenance programme, including up to date fire and emergency lighting systems to ensure the well being and safety of your child at all times.

All of the spacious, airy base rooms are equipped to cater for each age range. We have separate sleep rooms and dining rooms. We have large fully enclosed gardens with all weather play surfaces, outdoor classrooms and lawns. The outside is used as an extension of the base rooms and is used daily.

We are registered for 95 children in Caerleon and 82 in Newport from birth to 12 years. All of the staff are qualified to at least level 3 in Childcare or working towards, with most working towards level 4. Staff are also qualified in Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene and Safeguarding and all have a clear enhanced DBS. Training is on going, ensuring our staff are up to date and able to always offer the best for your child.

Staff are led by our management team made up of Deputy Managers, Nursery Managers, and Out of School Managers, who work together to support the day-to-day running of our settings. The team is overseen and supported by an Area Manager who provides overall leadership and strategic direction.

We are registered with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW), as well as the Education Department of Newport City Council and Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education and Training in Wales (ESTYN). Both settings are registered as Flying Start and have sessions funded by Childcare Offer Wales.

We are an English speaking nursery. Welsh is used throughout the day and procedures are in place for children for whom English is a second language.

We are an equal opportunity nursery with a dedicated Special Needs Co-ordintator working with parents whose children require additional learning and support.

We do our best to meet parent’s needs regarding term time only and flexible bookings. However, if there is a waiting list for sessions then this option is not available. Places on this basis are limited and you will be given the option of booking set days before offering sessions to another parent. We have a variety of finishing to suit parents needs so you can tailor the childcare that you require.

These fees are for sessions up to 6pm, we have finishing times of 4.30pm and 5.15pm with prices to reflect the shorter day. Please note: For children receiving the Childcare Offer, full fees will apply during half-term and holiday weeks that are not covered by funded sessions.
